This book has many applications in the lives of men for some it fills a space in a bookshelf otherwise filled with the thoughts of men gathering dust until the end of all things, for some it’s a stumbling block and filth and a lie, for some its something to be read at funerals for a seeming comfort, perhaps at weddings it will be read aloud so as to add some distinctiveness to the proceeding.

If you are found in the above I appeal to you to get stuck into the pages of this book head long, perhaps you see at as an ancient text with little application to life in this ever so futuristic and advanced world; why with all its technology and its sophistication is this book of any value?

You may have guessed by now I speak of what we commonly refer to as ‘the holy bible’. This is the title of what we commonly refer to as the writings of many men spanning a gulf of time vast and spreading across millennia. The authors of this book form a wide spectrum of occupation to create a collaboration of physicians, kings, servants in exile and relatively simple fishermen from Galilee. Yet all speak with great clarity of a theme which resonates through the ages, a theme so beautiful the book can only begin to comprehend since God used the language of men to convey its detail and depth.

Blood has been spilt over this book, oaths have been uttered and a great many have died defending it down throughout the ages. Could you imagine this happening over any other book of today? And causing as much controversy? Indeed the writings of men now shake the foundations and are headlines for a day to perhaps a week. Yet this book remains as strong as ever, unshaken, infallible and altogether lovely.

It tells of the origin of man, has described the attributes of the only true God, has wisdom greater than has been uttered my mortal man, has a love story unchallenged and surpassed to this day, it has predicted the rise and fall of nations and speaks of things which have not even yet come to pass. And many call this book a bore!

This book of course speaks most evidently of Jesus Christ, the eternal son of God and throughout the course of this blessed bible we see him brought to light. From the Old Testament prophesies concerning his advent, humiliation and suffering to his eventual exaltation this book is alive and breathing and is as sharp now as it ever was.

The scripture reveals Gods plan in redeeming man and in wonderful types shows us a little of the soon to be revealed theme of all, Our blessed saviour the Lord Jesus Christ. Like our saviour the scriptures are like a diamond cut perfectly, and on closer inspection and upon viewing from different angles it shows us a little more each time.

Be sure to read this wonderful volume and give it the place in your life, for it is the everlasting word of God which will stand even when nations of this earth rise and fall even surpassing the day this world will have perish and dissolve like snow.
